He goes on record saying the tech industry and Silicon Valley are fraught with sexism and that it needs to change starting with him. He recently spoke at the University of Pennsylvania Carey Law School about his philanthropy organization giving back for good. He noted his giving includes funding and grants to Girls Who Code, Global Fund for Women, Partners in Health, Student Press Law Center, Justice Now, Casa de las Madres, Urban Justice Center, and Humanitarian OpenStreetMap (OSM), Brennan Justice Center, RESIST, Parison Policy Initiative, Red Umbrella Fund, Government Accountability, Poverty Action Lab, and Anti-Defamation League.
The Gates Foundation leader Melinda Gates was quoted as saying Craig Newsome embodies inclusion and equitable practices in every fiber of his being.
Newsome is looking to achieve a new normal as he calls it by rallying people to start doing simple acts to contribute toward the change. He noted he is using both donations and his influence wherever he can. He calls his giving of monetary grants as a change multiplier.
