Dr. Kathleen L. Farrell provided counseling and psychological services to LGBTQIA+ community members on a sliding scale basis. Areas served included Pinellas County, St. Petersburg, Pinellas Park, and Clearwater, Florida. Kathleen Farrell Ph.D. (she/her/hers) was a gender therapist who has served the trans community in the Tampa Bay area since 1985. She counseled clients who identify as transgender and non-binary, as well as couples, their significant others and families. She was a member of the LGBTQIA+ community and identified as lesbian. She provided letters/referrals, as appropriate, for those clients planning to transition during the transition process, and currently facilitated two therapy groups, one for individuals and one for couples. She worked with parents who have children experiencing gender identity issues. Dr. Farrell founded the first support group in Tampa Bay in 1988, called the Starburst Group. She was dedicated to working for trans inclusion, be it in the workplace, society or with families. She promoted gender sensitivity, awareness, and respect for humanity. Dr. Farrell encouraged education, lifelong learning, and training on gender inclusion.
